Proper DiagnosisIt's not uncommon for consumers to be told the wrong diagnosis or even an UNFAIR price when dealing with appliance repairmen. For consumers, it's a stressful experience just finding a knowledgeable technician. On top of that, are they honest? Just today, I had a customer who received a diagnosis from another company who said his Samsung refrigerator needed a new ice maker. The quote was just over $600 and he would have to order the part.
My customer was smart enough to get a second opinion. When i started the diagnosis, I found factory tape holding door ajar button closed. (freezer fans would run even when door was ajar, causing excessive moisture build up on ice maker control unit freezing it solid). Pulled ice maker out. Defrosted ice maker and tested good. (MY QUOTE TO REPLACE ICE MAKER TAX, PARTS, AND LABOR WOULD HAVE ONLY BEEN $258.00 and parts were available). Because NO parts were needed customer cost was only $85.00
